The U.S. Justice Department has filed a lawsuit against Louisiana, claiming the state isn't providing adequate enough access to voter registration for disabled and low income residents.
The lawsuit claims several Louisiana state agencies are not providing voter registration forms to those seeking public assistance like Medicaid or Wic.
Caddo registrar Ernie Roberson says it's up to individual agencies to provide assistance to their clients. "We deal with those agencies who receive those applications of course we keep records on all that through Baton Rouge.
"But as far as the ability to register to vote from the standpoint of opportunity goes, there is more opportunity than ever," Roberson said.
The justice department declined to issue a statement about the lawsuit to NBC 6 news.
