Local Family Still Coping With Khobar Tragedy, 10 Years Later

Ten years have passed since the Khobar Towers tragedy. But for Laura Johnson, time doesn`t ease the pain of losing a son. "You never get over losing a child." said Johnson. Staff Sergeant Kevin Johnson was one of 18 servicemen killed June 25,1996, when terrorists blew up a fuel truck outside the Dhahran Air Base in Saudi Arabia. "They killed those kids... that was just murder." said Johnson. More than 370 were wounded in the brutal attack. Long before the war on terror, the Kohbar bombing was one of the first of string of terror attacks targeting the United States. Osama Bin Laden is believed to have played a role in the bombing. Laura says prayer is the only thing that has helped her deal with the loss of her son. Everyday she lights a candle for him and hopes the men responsible for taking his life are someday brought to justice. "I pray everyday that whoever it is, they`ll handle them and do something with them. But it`s not gonna bring those kids back." said Johnson.
