As the officers initiated the stop, the driver bailed out of the vehicle and fled on foot in an apparent attempt to elude authorities. Responding members of the Community Response Unit were able to locate the suspect, identified as 28 year old Morocco Porter, a short time later and took him into custody without incident.
Upon further investigation, officers located a .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun, approximately 24 grams of suspected crack cocaine and approximately 15 grams of suspected marijuana the suspect discarded while he was running from them.
All of those items were seized as well as over $600 cash the suspect had on his person at the time of his arrest.
Porter, of the 3600 block of Crosby Street in Shreveport, was subsequently booked into the Shreveport City Jail charged with one count each of convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I narcotic, possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II narcotic and flight from an officer.
