A Bossier City teenager has been arrested for cyberbullying Thursday, according to Bossier Parish Larry Deen.

Jason Patrick Thomas, 17, of the 1600 block of Quin Street, was taken into custody after he admitted to a Bossier Sheriff’s detective that he sent more than 50 text messages encouraging a 15-year-old female to commit suicide.

The vicim called a friend to tell him she was going to kill herself, and the friend posted her cell phone number on a social network site, asking friends to call and tell her not to kill herself.

Thomas got the female’s cell phone number off the site and used another site to send her the 50 text messages.  The Bossier Sheriff’s investigator says Thomas did this to coerce, abuse and intimidate the victim.

Texts included, “I won’t miss u,” “Ur not important,” and “Just end it all.”  The female took a number of pills, was transported to the hospital, then treated and released.

Thomas was taken to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility and booked.  His bond is pending.
