Women jailed for beating kids with three-pronged electric cords, computer cables

Two women are in jail for beating four siblings with an extension cord and other items, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

The children - ages 13, 10, 8, and 5 - received multiple beatings, sometimes several a week, as discipline for what the women said was bad behavior. Most recently, the 13-year-old was hit over 20 times during one occurrence. When one woman was finished striking the child with a computer cable, the other continued the beating with a three-pronged electrical cord. That same night, the 10-year-old was also struck with the cords.

All four children said they had been beaten on their bare skin with electrical cords, computer cords, and wooden sticks.

Lashonda Taylor, 28, and Shyrhonda Owens, 27, both of the 7900 block of North Lakeshore Drive, were arrested following an investigation by Caddo Sheriff's Detective Dorothy Brooks. Both women were booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for cruelty to juveniles. The children are now in state custody.
