Stimulus package nets Miller County $4,589 million in loans and grants

U.S. Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.) of Prescott will help present $4.589 million in loans and grants to the Miller County Public Water Authority 1 p.m. Thursday at Genoa Central High School, 12472 Arkansas 196 in Texarkana, Ark. Overall cost of the project, which is to better serve the needs of the people of Miller County, is estimated to be $5,470,000.
Also at the ceremony will be Miller County Judge Larry Burgess, Keith Huskey, area specialist, USDA Rural Development, Haze Hudson, board president of Miller County Public Water Authority, former Miller County Judge Roy John McNatt; and Dan Boyles, project engineer, MTG Engineers of Texarkana, Texas.
This funding was made available through the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act, also known as the stimulus package. Broken down, Miller County Water Authority will receive $2,452,000 in the form of a USDA loan, and $2,137,000 in a USDA Rural Development grant.
