A Newellton, Louisiana, man was arrested Wednesday afternoon for second-offense driving while intoxicated and hit and run, according to Bossier Parish Sheriff Larry Deen.
Kenneth D. Barfield, 54, was taken into custody after a Bossier Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to investigate a hit and run accident that occurred on Highway 80 at Forrst Hills. While the deputy was completing the accident report, the victim pointed out Barfield to the deputy when Barfield drove back by the scene.
When stopped, Barfield was very unstable on his feet, his speech was slurred and he had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. He failed a field sobriety test, then blew a .230% on the Intoxilyzer 5000, almost three times the legal limit.
Barfield was transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility and booked.
His bond was set at $2,500.
