The Bossier Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a five-year-old girl.
Investigators tell NBC 6 News the girl was taken, by her father and stepmother, to Willis Knighton Pierremont Hospital Thursday morning. That was just before 9:30am.
It's not clear if the girl was breathing at the time or not. But, she was pronounced dead a short time later.
"Right now an autopsy is being done," says Doyle Dempsey, with the Bossier Sheriff's Office. "So, hopefully in the morning we will have a determination as to what exactly happened to this little girl."
The girl's identity has not been released. All we know is she is white and from south Bossier.
Investigators told NBC 6 News reporter Kerry Charles, the siblings of the young girl are still with family members.
The sheriff's office has not made it clear if the child's death is part of a criminal investigation.
