Shreveport Mayor's Aide Fired As Probe Of Alleged Criminal Activity Continues

By: Nancy Cook
Updated: December 29, 2010

Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover announced early this morning that Rick Seaton, Assistant Chief administrative Officer, has been terminated effective immediately. The termination comes as the result of an ongoing criminal investigation by the Shreveport Police Department.

Mayor Glover stated the following, “Mr. Seaton has been terminated. We have followed the same procedures in this situation that we have followed in other similar situations involving City of Shreveport personnel.”

Seaton, a Republican, worked in Glover’s 2006 campaign. After his successful election bid, Seaton was named one of two executive assistants to the mayor, replacing Archie Hall who had held the position during the previous two-terms of former Mayor Keith Hightower.  The other other executive assistant slot went to Gwen Campbell, a former education reporter for a local television station, replacing Liz Swaine, also a former television reporter, who had held the job eight years during the previous administration.

Prior to his appointment to Glover’s staff, Seaton ran an unsuccessful campaign for Shreveport City Council, served on the Metropolitan Planning commission, and also filled an unexpired term on the Caddo Parish School Board.
