A local man who has been on the lam since allegedly robbing a downtown Shreveport bank is behind bars tonight.

Just after 3:00 p.m. today, Shreveport Police detectives received information regarding the whereabouts of 63 year old Roy Martin, who was wanted for robbing the Community Bank of Louisiana last Thursday. Patrol officers subsequently stopped a vehicle Martin was riding in and took him into custody without incident.

Patrol officers were dispatched Thursday to the Community Bank of Louisiana in the 400 block of Travis Street where a male suspect entered the bank, approached a teller there and raised his shirt to reveal a handgun in the waistband of his pants. The robber demanded money from the employee and then fled the scene of the crime after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured during the robbery.

A concerned citizen was able to provide responding officers with a license plate number and description of the vehicle the suspect used as a get-away car. A short time later, patrol officers found the vehicle, a Ford Taurus, parked and abandoned on a parking lot near the intersection of Jewella Avenue and Frederick Street.
