Bad idea to shoplift in Bossier City

Updated: December 21, 2010

Bossier City police arrested three shoplifting suspects including one who tried to escape from officers by entering an elderly woman’s home.
Cedric De’Edward Hicks, 19, Chester L. Johnson, 19, and Mark A. Jacobs, 17, all of Shreveport were caught Monday afternoon after they shoplifted clothing from the Dillard’s store at Pierre Bossier Mall. The three ran out of the store toward East Texas Street after being confronted by store personnel who observed them taking several articles of clothing and stuffing them in their pants. Officers responded to the area immediately and caught Johnson within a few minutes behind the Toys R Us store on East Texas Street.
Witnesses reported seeing Hicks and Jacobs run across East Texas Street toward the Chaparral Apartments. Officers responded to that area accordingly and located Jacobs and Hicks running in the 1000 block of Christy Street just west of the apartments. Officers gave chase on foot and took Jacobs into custody while Hicks ran inside a home on Christy Street. Police then took Hicks into custody without further incident. An 82-year old woman who lives in the house was inside the residence at the time but made no contact with Hicks and was unawarehe had entered the house.
The three suspects were booked into the Bossier City Jail on the following charges:

·         Hicks - Theft, Unauthorized Entry and Resisting

·         Jacobs - Theft and Resisting

·         Johnson - Theft

Officers recovered some of the stolen merchandise and returned it to Dillard’s.
