There has been a 16 percent increase in the number of juveniles involved in crimes in Bossier Parish. A program is aimed at bringing that number down.
The Young Marines is a 13 week program for anyone between the ages of 8 and 18. It teaches participants about discipline and respect for authority. The group meets on Saturdays and Sundays
Lt. Ed Baswell says,"The Young Marines is really a program designed to keep these kinds of kids from falling through the cracks. They've not gotten into really serious trouble, but they're showing signs they might."
Anyone can participate in the program. Parents need to contact the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office to enroll their child.
