Suspicious phone calls

By: Nancy Cook
Updated: November 28, 2010

The Shreveport Police Department is warning residents in reference to two separate complaints of suspicious phone calls.

Saturday,  the police department received complaints from two persons reporting they received phone calls that showed up on caller identification as 318-673-7300, one of the  department's non-emergency numbers, from a male subject claiming to be a detective. This man told them that they were the target of an investigation and attempted to get their addresses claiming the police needed to interview them.

Authorities with the Shreveport Police Department did not make those calls and investigators have been notified and will be following up on these cases to determine who is responsible.

Shreveport police would like to remind citizens to never give out any personal information over the phone to someone they don't know. Anyone who might have received a similar call is asked to call the Shreveport Police Department  at 318-673-7300 so an officer can be dispatched to investigate.
