FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Arkansas sophomore tailback Darren McFadden and senior offensive guard Stephen Parker have been named as 2006 Sporting News All-Americans it was announced by the publication this week. McFadden has been a consensus first-team All-America selection after posting a record-breaking season for the Razorbacks. The Heisman Trophy runner-up has rushed for a UA record 1,585 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2006. He eclipsed Madre Hills (1,387) previous school record and became only the second player in Southeastern Conference history to rush for 1,000 yards in his freshman and sophomore seasons. Only Georgia legend Herschel Walker can make the same claim among SEC running backs. Parker was one of the reasons for McFaddens stellar campaign. The Mandeville, La., product helped clear the way for two 1,000-yard rushers (McFadden and Felix Jones) this season. Arkansas ranks fourth in the nation in rushing with an average of 228.23 yards per game. Parker had 49 knockdown blocks this season including 32 in the last six games. Parker is the third UA offensive lineman to garner All-America honors this season. Senior offensive tackle Tony Ugoh was honored by The Associated Press on its third team and by Rivals.com on its second team. Sophomore Jonathan Luigs joined Ugoh on the AP third-team All-America offense. In addition, senior offensive tackle Zac Tubbs garnered first-team All-SEC honors from league coaches.
