Plant Looks At Springhill As Possible Site

By: Maria Vallejo
Updated: February 15, 2008
A plant that turns wood into oil is looking at Springhill as it's possible location. It's called Dynamotive and it turns wood into oil. The town of Springhill welcomes the possibility. Over the years they economy there has taken many hits. In the early eighties Springhill lost it's paper mill, and with it went several hundred jobs. Then another hit, the plywood company in town temporarily shut down. Even though residents describe the economy as stable in Springhill, they are looking at getting the bio-oil plant to set up shop in the industrial district. The company's representatives looked at three different sites. They are still considering Springhill as the location for the new plant. The project is a 54 thousand dollar investment which would create 60 permanent jobs. And about one hundred associated jobs. North Webster Parish residents say they hope the company picks their community as a permanent location.
