Tulsa 53 BOSSIER - SHREVEPORT 14

BOSSIER CITY, LA (July 15, 2006) - Tulsa`s defense dominated the Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings, leading the Talons to a 53-14 win. Talons defenders sacked BattleWings` quarterback J.J. Raterink twice in the end zone for safeties. In the third quarter, Tulsa`s Antwan Floyd ripped the ball out of quarterback Dustin Almond`s hands and ran three yards into the end zone for another defensive score. Talons quarterback Mark Radlinski earned Schutt offensive player of the game honors with a 21-31 passing performance. He threw six touchdown passes. Don McGee, who caught six passes for Tulsa while playing both ways, was named U.S. Army Iron Man of the game. Defensive lineman Chad Ruffin, who made life miserable much of the night for the beleaguered Bossier-Shreveport quarterbacks, earned ADT Defensive Player of the Game honors. The BattleWings fell behind 30-0 before they were able to find the end zone. Raterink connected with Brandon Campbell for a seven-yard score. Brian Hazelwood`s extra point made the score 30-7. The only other Bossier-Shreveport points came with 11:05 remaining in the ball game. The BattleWings had recovered a Tulsa fumble inside the fve yard line. Two plays later, Dustin Almond followed the lead block of fullback Jason Schule and scampered around the left side for a one-yard touchdown. The BattleWings have won just two games in 2006, and have lost twelve times. Tulsa improves to 10-4.
