Sports Win Over St. Paul 10-3

The Shreveport Sports made it two straight over St. Paul with a 10-3 win over the Saints Saturday night at Fair Grounds Field. Like Friday, the Sports got off to an early lead with two runs in the first inning on a two-out bases loaded single by Austin Easley. Shreveport added a run in the second on a two-out double by Neb Brown and put the game away in the fourth inning, sending ten batters to the plate in scoring five runs. Thats all Sports righthander Eric Wikstrom needed in picking up his eight win of the season, becoming only the second pitcher in the American Association to record eight wins this year. The key to Wikstroms win was that he did not walk a batter in six and two thirds innings of pitching while scattering eight hits. Chad Gambill became the fourth Shreveport batter this season to get four hits in a game with two doubles and three RBIs. Todd Self hit his first home run in a Sports uniform, the first home run in the second half of the season for Shreveport. The Sports and St. Paul will close out the three-game series Sunday at Fair Grounds Field. Game time 6:05 pm.
