Lefthander Joel Kirsten pitched a complete game as the Fort Worth Cats defeated the Shreveport Sports 2-1 at Fair Grounds Field Friday. It was the first complete game of the season for Kirsten who scattered six hits and walked only one hitter. The Cats took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Terence Green and made it 2-0 in the third, scoring an unearned run off Shreveport starter Josh Neitz, who took the loss. Shreveport scored their only run in the third inning on an RBI single by Neb Brown, but couldnt put together any other substantial rally. In the bottom of the ninth, Brown led off with a walk, but Todd Self flied to center and Chad Gambill hit into a game ending double play. It was only the second loss for the Sports in the last 12 games and drops their record to 3-2 in the second half. Shreveport and Fort Worth will meet in the second game of the three game series Saturday at Fair Grounds Field. Game time will be 7:05 pm.
