Good things came to an end for the Shreveport Sports Tuesday afternoon as the El Paso Diablos shutout the Sports 1-0, snapping Shreveports seven-game winning streak. It was the first shutout for El Paso this season. The only run scored in the game came in the seventh inning when Jorge Alvarez led off the inning with a double, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a two-out single by Michael Harkins. The Sports had a great opportunity in the eighth inning when Tommy Bryant led off with a single, advanced to second on a sacrifice by Melvin Falu and went to third on a single by Coby Smith. Neb Brown walked to load the bases with one out, but Todd Self was called out on strikes and Chad Gambill flied to right field to end the inning and the scoring threat for the Sports. Shreveport and El Paso will meet in the third game of the four-game series Wednesday at Fair Grounds Field. Game time 7:05 pm.
