A cache of weapons, drugs and money all rounded up in Webster Parish`s Operation: Bad Deal a 5 month effort that came to a head this morning at this house in Cullen in the 200 block of East Road. It`s here that agents suspected a crack cocaine selling operation. After getting a search warrant, they busted in.
"It was him and his wife in bed all these weapons you see here were laying here in close proximity of the target, it`s always that feel that we have to get our job done," explained Sgt. Shawn Baker, Webster Parish Task Narcotic Task Force.
Getting their job done also included a K-9 search of the cars and the back shed. Even though nothing turned up in those locations, they still had enough to take down the owner of the house.
"Artemus Crow will be charged with 2 counts of distribution of crack cocaine, possession of crack and possibly some illegal weapons charges," said Sgt. Baker.
"Your heart level goes up because you really don`t know what to expect, once you gain entrance, everything comes together," commented lt. L. Coleman, Webster Parish Sheriffs.
After the first raid there were others. Deputies knocked on more doors, making 12 arrests in all. While that`s a success, Operation: Bad Deal only scratched the surface of Webster`s cocaine problem.
"It has grown progressively worse, we try to stay on top of the game, its hard sometimes. We`ll continue to do our job and hope to curb the situation as much as we can."
