Deputies Assigned to Youree Drive

The wait on Youree Drive is driving some drivers crazy. Construction has taken over the intersection of Youree and Southfield for weeks. "It`s been really hectic, really hectic so anything they can do to relieve it will be better," said a concerned driver. Now a Caddo Sheriff`s Deputy is helping direct traffic to ease some of the pain. "To keep it flowing smoothly if the light gets backed up we take over and keep the cars rolling," explained Deputy Randal Terrell. Jackie Kemper says that one deputy is not enough, they need to be staggered along Youree drive especially near the school. "I think they really need someone here because in the afternoon if you`re here you would see the kids have to come out into the street with the crossing guard just to get across," admitted Jackie Kemper. Drivers say they have waited in traffic for 15 to 20 minutes since Best Yet Construction started working that is why the construction company requested help. "There are times on Southfield where it will back up because the bus will stop pick up people, let them off, and because there is no where else for traffic to go, that will delay a light or two cycle," commented Lt. Sam Hall, Caddo Parish Sheriffs Office. For Kemper, it just keeps getting more and more frustrating. "I don`t understand why this end if not finished, this is absolutely ridiculous." A Caddo Parish Sheriffs Deputy will be at the intersection of Youree and Southfield Monday through Saturday from 11 to 5 pm.
