Updated: February 5, 2007
Ronald Small, 39, a Shreveport Police officer and his wife Tracey Small, 38, a Shreveport Airport Authority officer, are charged with insurance fraud and injuring public documents. And, as of Friday morning, Ronald Small no longer served as one of Shreveport`s finest. The veteran police officer resigned shortly after he and his wife surrendered to authorities. It all started on December 11, when Tracey Small was involved in a minor car accident at the intersection of Murphy and Yale, just down the street from the Shreveport Police Department. Tracey Small was driving uninsured and sources tell KTAL that Small`s insurance policy was recently canceled, that soon after the accident she renewed it, and that`s when Ronald Small allegedly got involved by changing the accident report. Authorities say the date and time were changed to make it appear that Tracey Small was insured at the time of the accident but her insurance company quickly caught on and contacted police who then brought in the Louisiana State Police. The Smalls are both now out on bond.
