Extremist Group Demands More Than 30 Governors Resign

By: RNS
Updated: April 4, 2010
Federal authorities say a domestic extremist group has sent letters to more than 30 governors demanding they resign within three days. The FBI and Department of Homeland Security say the group is the Guardians of the Free Republics. The agencies say the groups letter calls for the governors to be removed from office if they do not comply by resigning within three days. Homeland Security says state police should be aware this could indicate the group plans to use violence to remove the governors, although the letter didnt include such a threat.
