Rep. Fleming Comments on Health Care Vote

Washington, DC – Representative John Fleming, M.D. released the following statement Sunday after the House of Representatives voted to pass the Senate Health Care bill and also approved the reconciliation package to be sent to the Senate for consideration. “America took a huge step backwards today as Congress approved a government takeover of one-sixth of our economy over the resounding objection of the American people. Democrats may be able to manipulate the process, but they cannot manipulate reality. And the reality is this bill is bad for Americans. This bill is based on Bernie Madoff-like economics. From double-accounting to more taxes to higher premiums to taxpayer funded abortions, this bill will insert Washington further into the everyday lives of Americans and government bureaucrats between doctors and patients. This bill also saddles taxpayers with massive increases to our national debt. I will be fighting every day to repeal and turn back a bill that has not earned the consent of the governed.” John Fleming is a physician and small business owner and represents the 4th Congressional District of Louisiana.
