It was a story that shocked the nation - the New Berlin Facebook blackmail scam.

Now, the teenager who coerced classmates into performing sex acts has learned his fate.

Former New Berlin Eisenhower student Anthony Stancl apologized for his controlling and manipulative behavior. The 19-year-old will spend the next 15 years in prison thinking about it but he could have gotten 30.

"My actions have caused an immense amount of pain and suffering," said Stancl in court.

Stancl hurt dozens of young lives in a salacious scheme. He tricked classmates into sending him nude photos and then used them as blackmail to get the boys to have sex with him.

Stancl claims he finally understood the pain he had caused by listening to police interviews with the victims.

I heard the pain and the humility and the shame and the anger in your voices, said Stancl from his written statement. "I could sense the sorrow and uncertainty and the fear you felt."

District Attorney Brad Schimel believes Stancl knew all along what he was doing.

"As you read his reactions to things," said Schimel. "They're so very self centered. He doesn't seem to be able to empathize with the rest of the world."

Schimel is satisfied with the sentence and he hopes it will be a wakeup call.

"Kids are sending nude pictures of each other to each other and I'm just not sure they're hearing this message. I hope their parents are."

Stancl will be 34 years old when he's released from prison. He'll then face another 13 years of supervision
