Shreveport Grinch Steals Holiday Decorations

Updated: January 7, 2009
"I`ve lived here for over 30 years and this is the first time anything like this has ever happened. " Clarice Carter puts up her Christmas decorations every year... But this year, about 500 dollars worth were stolen right out of her front yard. "I feel like I have a grinch in the neighborhood, trying to steal Christmas," said Carter Surprisingly, the bold thieves returned just a week later taking her reindeer and attempting to steal a snowman. "It`s just so inhuman. I just don`t understand how someone could just walk in your yard and unplug your decorations and just pick it up and walk off with it. It just seems so unfair," said Carter. And Clarice isn`t alone. Several residents in the Lakeside Acres Subdivision have also been targeted. "It`s not only happening at one house... But it looks like they just pick.. I guess where they feel they can get things quickly," said neighbor Julia Simon. She says the thieves hit her house twice, taking a plastic santa claus and some reindeer. "They came and took my trees up out of the ground and stole them and carried them away," said Simon. Both of the ladies have filed police reports. And are hoping the thieves won`t strike again. Clarice plans to lock up her snowman and the few items remaining in her yard. She says even though a grinch has stolen her decorations, she won`t let them steal her Christmas spirit. "I`m still gonna have my lights on. It`s not gonnna stop me from having Christmas around my home, because I love it," said Carter.
