Hey ladies, if you want to stay svelte, stay single.   A new study finds saying "I do" or even living with a man may cause a larger waistline.

That's according to a 10-year study of 6-thousand Australian women and now published in the American Journal Of Preventive Medicine.

The study showed childless women with no partner gained 11 pounds over 10 years.  Women with a mate, but no child gained 15 pounds, women with mate and child gained 20 pounds.

Doctor and nutritionist Jana Klauer says women tend to mimic the food habits of their significant other. "I think any woman who has lived with a man knows that they eat a lot. We also know,  studies have shown us that we eat more when we have company than when we're alone," Dr. Klauer said.

Studies also show married men pack on the pounds.  Love may be blind but the scale isn't.
