(Baton Rouge) - State lawmakers unhappy with Governor Blanco`s call for a ten-day special session this month are saying there`s a chance the session could adjourn right after it begins.
Senator Noble Ellington 1/8 1/8 D-Winnsboro 3/8 3/8, chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee, says there`s about a "50-50 chance" that lawmakers would vote to adjourn.
The Senate, with a majority vote of a quorum of its members, could adjourn the session.
The last time the Legislature adjourned as soon as it was called into session was in August 1959, when Earl K. Long was governor.
Disgruntled lawmakers are saying that the governor`s call to spend one-point-six-billion-dollars in only ten days is ill-conceived and poorly planned.
