Troubleshooters Investigation Leads Fema To Take Action

Cash Point Landing in Bossier City used to be home to more than 40 FEMA travel trailers. Now, most of the evacuees are gone. However, there are still some trailers sitting there empty and FEMA is paying for it. The KTAL Troubleshooters went to Cash Point Landing to check out the allegations. We found FEMA travel trailers that appeared to have been abandoned. Some were in poor, unsanitary condition. We contacted FEMA for some answers. A representative admits that while more than 20 trailers have been removed from the site, there are 9 unoccupied trailers still at Cash Point. According to their records, 12 travel trailers are currently being leased but they could not confirm whether people were actually living in them. FEMA is renting 21 pads at the RV park. Neither Cash Point officials nor FEMA would reveal how much the agency is spending to lease those pads. An average renter, however, would pay $300 per month for a lot. After the KTAL Troubleshooters contacted FEMA, a representative said they will send a team of investigators to Cash Point on Tuesday. If they find trailers that are unoccupied, they`ll be marked to be taken away and FEMA will begin the process of cancelling the leases. The KTAL Troubleshooters will bring you the latest on this investigation on your news at 5 and 6.
