Politician Roy Hoppy Hopkins passed away Thursday night. He had been suffering from bone and lung cancer. Hoppy was a well known state politician who started at the local level.
Hoppy was elected to office in 87. Since taking office he was instrumental in helping the rural communities in North Caddo Parish. In Oil City he help with the water plant, sewage system and even started the state`s oil and gas museum. Those who knew Hoppy say he leaves a legacy behind.
Hoppy`s family tells us they will have funeral services for him on Tuesday at the United Pentecostal Church in Oil City. They will also have a viewing at the same church on Monday from six to eight.
