Bossier City police arrested one of two suspects late Tuesday night during an armed robbery of a business. Police received a call of an armed robbery in progress at the Dollar General Store in the 2300 block of Barksdale Boulevard just before 8 p.m. Two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, entered the store wearing bandanas over their faces and robbed a cashier of an undisclosed amount of money. Patrol officer Ty Wood was writing reports in a parking lot a few blocks away when the call came across his radio and rushed to the scene. As officer Wood pulled into the parking lot of the Dollar General Store, the two suspects came running out the front door. Officer Wood ordered the suspects to stop. One of them complied while the other ran back into the store. Several officers, including members of the armed robbery task force. along with a Bossier City police K-9 unit responded to the scene and searched in and around the store but did not locate the second suspect. It`s believed he had escaped through a side door and fled on foot.
Two employees and two customers were inside the store at the time of the robbery. No on was injured. The suspect taken into custody is identified as 19-year-old Kenneth W. Loyd. He was arrested and booked into the Bossier City Jail on a charge of armed robbery.
Witnesses described the second suspect as a black male wearing dark clothing including a hooded sweatshirt. He was also wearing a red bandana. Anyone with information that could help police locate him is asked to call Bossier Crime Stoppers at 424-4100. Callers to Crime Stoppers are reminded they may remain totally anonymous and could be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
