FBI Raids New Orleans ACORN Offices

By: RNS
Updated: November 6, 2009
(New Orleans) -- Federal agents have raided the offices of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN in New Orleans. A spokesperson for state Attorney General Buddy Caldwell says the Friday morning raid was done after ACORN attorneys told them some material needed for an investigation may have vanished. The spokesperson also says ACORN officials have been "extremely cooperative." Authorities are investigating a brother of ACORN founder Wade Rathke for allegedly stealing between one-and-five-million dollars from the organization.
