Deputies Hope Seminar Will Keep People Safe

Updated: January 7, 2009
The Bossier Parish Sheriff`s department has some tips about how to stay safe during the holidays. It is no secret people may be carrying extra cash during the holidays, and the thieves know it. Police say criminals usually prey on shoppers, hoping to get extra cash to buy their own gifts. In an effort to keep people from becoming victims, Bossier deputies offered tips at a seminar focusing on three things: armed robbery prevention for businesses, women`s personal safety when shopping and personal safety at home. Deputies say the first thing to remember is to look around you and try to spot anything that might be unusual or could alert you to a possible attack. If something does happen, deputies say it is important to remember a good description of the suspect so they can find them quickly. Deputies say if the seminar helps prevent one crime, they have accomplished their goal.
