Rummage for Rescue

By: Lynn Vance
Updated: November 5, 2009
Dogs and Cats in the Ark-La-Tex need your help. Whether you’re a pet owner or not you can do your part. Animal Welfare Inc. will hold their 7th annual “Rummage for Rescue” sale on Saturday. Gloria Freeman the groups president says, the money raised will be used for the ongoing spay/neuter voucher program as well as to take care of the animals. This year’s event will include books, Christmas decorations, small appliances, furniture, clothes, dishes and much more. Thrifty Peanut, a local business, has donated over two thousand books to the organization. The economy is a big part of why animals are released to shelters. Other reasons include not enough time to spend with the pet and moving. Freeman tells NBC 6, “One of the most shocking reasons she’s heard was when a couple gave up a dog because they changed their carpet and the dog didn’t match it.” If you would like to help or maybe find a treasure; check out the information below. 7th Annual Rummage for Rescue – November 7, 2009 In front of Barksdale Federal Credit Union – 2321 Airline Dr. Bossier City 9:00 am to 4 pm www.animalwelfareinc.org
