24-year-old Shakiya Moore was gunned down in the parking lot of Mr. D's nightclub Halloween night. Deputies say dozens of bystanders witnessed the crime, yet none has come forward to help detectives catch Moore's killer. Chief Mike Mauldin of the Miller County Sheriff's Department says a street rule of no snitching and fear are keeping witnesses from coming forward. Mauldin believes people associated with the victim know who's responsible and could be planning to retaliate.
Kelvin Randle lives across the street from Mr. D's. He says he didn't see what happened, but wouldn't tell police if he did. Despite knowing the victim, Randle says he doesn't want to be thought of as a snitch. Mauldin says it's a sign of total indifference to human life.
