Jake Young is a junior at North Desoto High School. He's the president of Students Against Destructive Decisions, Vice President of Future Business Leaders of America, and a mentor to first year students.
"It teaches you how to be responsible, how to manage things, and also just gives you a sense of accomplishment," said Young.
Young also does great work outside the walls of the school building. He recently helped build a home for Habitat for Humanity.
"There are just so many people who just don't have anything at all and how can we just sit here and sit on what we have and not give back when there are so many people out here hurting."
Young has one piece of advice for future generations.
"You gotta surround yourself with friends," said Young. "Just people there to encourage me and help me through it all because you're not gonna be able to do it by yourself."
