Boswell was commissioned in 2004 and was decommissioned in August 2009 after the girl's mother filed a restraining order.
Boswell was a part-time volunteer, whose duties included providing back-up and traffic control but did not make any arrests.
“Just when I think I have seen the worst we run across someone like this. The only remorse he showed was for getting caught,” said Detective Sgt. Scott Tucker, the lead investigator and arresting officer on the case. “You would think that with the number of arrests we have made these predators would stop.”
While many similar cases have begun with online activities or text messaging, other cases like this one prove that sexual predators do not only exist on the Internet.
Boswell was booked into the Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center on charges of aggravated rape and indecent behavior with a juvenile, with bond amounts of $500,000 and $150,000.
"Boswell is example that even people close to home may seek opportunities to do harm without regard of consequence to their victims" the sheriff's office said in a press release.
“These adults, who use their experience and development to influence, persuade and manipulate the young and innocent minds of our kids for sexual or otherwise unsuitable purposes don’t belong in our communities with us,” said Sexton. “I will continue to ensure that our investigators are provided the time, training and tools they need to continue putting repulsive predators like Boswell behind bars.”
