A high school senior is serving the country even before he graduates from high school.

Taylor Liesmann, a senior at C.E. Byrd High School, signed up to be a part of the Army National Guard.

As the battalion commander of JROTC, the student teaches 280 of his peers about the military.

"It kind of builds a little responsibility in yourself to make sure that everybody's doing their job so your doing your job so you're not going to get in trouble" he says.

Liesmann is also the wrestling captain, winning the city champ title for two years and was one of the top eight in the state last year. He hopes to attend Westpoint and study military science or business administration.
