One person is dead and three people are in custody after a confusing situation unfolded Saturday night. Shreveport Police say 23-year-old Laquinton Bates was shot to death trying to defend himself during an attempted robbery. Police say it all happened during a drug deal gone wrong. Here is how the night unfolded according to police: About 5:40 on Saturday night 22-year-old James Roach called saying he shot a man. When police arrived they could not find Roach or a crime scene. A few minutes later Ashley Nail called saying she just dumped a body and wanted to talk to police. When police arrived, she lead them to a dirt road off of South Lakeshore Drive where a Bates was found shot to death. Police say they located both weapons involved. James Roach is charged with second degree murder. Ashley and Adam Nail are both charged as principles to second degree murder.
