Shreveport recognized a former fire chief Saturday morning. Kelvin Cochran was honored for his 28 years of service.
The Shreveport native is the new U.S. Fire Adminstrator overseeing federal policy, legislation, training and education for the nations fire departments.
Cochran says he is proud of the work hes done here and proud of Shreveport. "I will not let you down. I will not let you down. And I will continue to work every single day, knowing that Shreveport is watching me."
As head of the U.S. Fire Administration he will be providing national leadership to local fire and emergency services.
