As unemployment numbers rise in the Ark-La-Tex neglecting your teeth or eyes is easy. Optometrists and Dentists see it everyday. Doctor Ryan Haygoods average patient waits two years between visits. "Cavities, gum disease, it is going to get worse. Six months from now it will cost you more to fix it, " said Doctor Haygood. Over the past several months his marketing approach focused on the procrastinator. "During tough times when it is between paying the light bill and getting your teeth fixed there are options out there where you can do both possibly." Haygood encourages taking advantage of financing plans and discounts. "The worse they can get and the bigger problems you are going to have in the future." And Willie White at David Raines Community Health Center agrees. "By having the discounts, a person wont have to make those decision about an electric bill, water bill and receiving health care services, said White. At the center, patients pay for their services on a sliding scale depending on income and coverage. "A lot of people dont have insurance and by coming here they really will help," said Patient, Lizzie Harris. Optometrist David Jordan says help is available, just ask for it. Your eyes, teeth and body depend on it. "As soon as possible have your eyes checked." Discounts and financing options vary by health care provider. There are five David Raines Community Health Centers located throughout North Louisiana.
