Bossier City Chief of Police Mike Halphen has announced the arrest of a Parkway High School student after the teenager brought a handgun onto the school`s campus. 17-year-old Evan Daniel Hoek was arrested Wednesday afternoon at school and booked into the Bossier City Jail on a felony charge of possessing a firearm on a school campus. School resource officer, Bossier City police sergeant Paul Hopkins acted on a tip and investigated a threat made by a student that he was going to harm another student by shooting him.
After receiving this information and acting on orders of Chief Halphen, Sgt. Hopkins took Hoek into custody and located a handgun in Hoek`s pickup truck that was parked in the school parking lot.
Chief Halphen commended Sgt. Hopkins for his quick action in recovering the weapon. He also praised students for informing Sgt. Hopkins about the threat and putting their trust in him during times of concern.
