breaking news
An Ark-La-Tex family contacted the KTAL Troubleshooters with a problem they hope we can help them fix. Bob and Debbie Bragg purchased an awning for their deck more than a year ago. Just a month after the deck was installed, they say it began leaking. They blame it on shoddy workmanship, however, the contractor says it is not his fault.
The Braggs paid Ark-La-Tex Aluminum Awning about $1400 for the awning. However, in Debbie Bragg`s eyes, that was money wasted. "When the first leak occured, I was shocked because it was a little more than a month old and it was leaking," Bragg said. Bragg says it did not stop there. Time and time again, she says rainwater got through the awning. "I`d say after the fourth time I was pretty furious," Bragg said.
Earnest Welch, owner of Ark-La-Tex Aluminum Awning, came out four times to inspect the awning. But, now, the warranty is up and the Braggs say the awning is still leaking. Welch, however, says the awning is not the problem. The real problem is the Bragg`s roof. "Each time, I`ve taken a water hose and flooded that cover completely and there were no leaks," Welch said. The Braggs don`t believe that and now, they want their money back. "The final repair was not made," Bragg said.
Ark-La-Tex Aluminum Awnings is a Better Business Bureau member and has a satisfactory record. The Braggs, however, say this dispute is far from over. Their next step will be small claims court.
