If a committee of the East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council has its way, an ordinance will be placed on the books making it illegal for the state to set up an emergency shelter for Registered Sex Offenders in the Parish.
The proposed ordinance was introduced by Councilman Wayne Carter. He admitted the courts may have to decide whether the Parish can legally stop the land at the Joint Emergency Service Training Center.
The full council will consider the ordinance next week.
