The Jefferson, Texas tourism industry is the economic engine that drives Marion County. Now, local entertainers are expanding theatre to offer something new to tourists and locals alike. The new play, Bats in your Belfries by Robin McGee is a play written for and about Jefferson. It is based on the real life attempts of Jay Gould to push his railroad through the city in the 1880s. The play is a melodrama that invites the audience to be involved in the show. It is offered at the new dinner theatre, Bull Durham Playhouse, in downtown Jefferson.

For more information on the play, Bats in your Belfries, contact the Bull Durham Playhouse. The Playhouse has a variety of shows scheduled throughout the year, and reservations are encouraged.

For more information on other plays and performances in and around Jefferson, Texas contact the Marion County Chamber of Commerce or a guide to Historic Jefferson.
