A body found in Scottsville,TX may be that of a Marshall Man missing for nearly two months. Investigators say evidence found near the scene leads them to believe that the unidentified deceased person is in fact 81-year-old Ray Woodkins, Jr. Hunters found the body in the woods about three miles away from Woodkins` home. Investigators say it was so badly decomposed that they couldn`t tell the age, race or sex. But the clothing on the body appeared to be similar to what Woodkins was wearing the last time he was seen.
"When they told me, it wa like my heart just dropped," said daughter-in-law Brenda Woodkins.
The body was taken for autopsy and a DNA test will be given to confirm the identity. But family members say they`ve already seen all the proof they need.
"I pretty well already knew," said Woodkins` son Harvey.
Harvey Woodkins says he saw his father`s truck abandoned in a grocery store parking lot, just one day after he disappeared.
"When I saw the truck the way it was and the wallet. I knew it."
Even if the DNA is a match family members fear they may never know what really happened to Ray Woodkins Jr.
"I don`t know who would want to hurt him," said cousin John Murray.
