Updated: July 23, 2007
The Texarkana, Texas City Council is expected to appoint Captain Danny Presley as interim police chief. Currently, the departments four captains are rotating through the chiefs seat. The city manager, Dr. Larry Sullivan, says having one leader will create some stability for the department. "We do hope to have a more permanent solution in the immediate future. Captain Presley just happened to be in the chair when I stopped the rotation, so we have asked him to be the leader until we have a permanent chief." Presley would begin serving as chief on August 1st. The captains have been taking turns running the department for more than a year.
