A New Home For A Local Hero

Updated: January 7, 2009
It was an emotional day for Specialist Kyle Burleson and his family. Kyle was hit by a sniper`s bullet that tore through his neck while on patrol in Iraq in 2004. He is paralyzed from the neck down. After hearing the 23 year-old`s story Massachusetts based "Homes For Our Troops" decided to help Kyle and his family out. The organization offered to finance the construction of a home to meet Kyle`s every need. Friday, Springhill residents, veterans and supporters welcomed Kyle, Kristi, Aly and Alex into their new home. "It is a lot bigger than i thought it was going to be," said Burleson. The house has special features that will make kyle`s life easier. A track system that can help him move through the house and lots of space. The Burleson`s hope to be moved in by the end of October.
