Bossier Parish Bus Driver Fired for Making Changes to Route

A Bossier Parish school bus driver has been fired after refusing to drop students off at a stop that she calls dangerous. Kay Rowell was supposed to drop students off at Hope Street and Highway 71, on the side opposite to their homes, forcing them to cross the busy highway. But, after a driver sped past her blinking stop sign, she decided to change the route so she could stop in front of their homes. Bossier school administrators say other drivers have tested the route and determined that it is safe. School board administrators say the bus route will remain the same.
