Bossier Parish Sheriff deputies are investigating the case as a possible homicide.
The body was found about 3 miles east of the town of Rocky Mount.
"Evidence would suggest that he was killed at another location, and then brought here," explained Sergeant Doyle Dempsey.
Wednesday morning, oil field workers and log truck drivers found the body of what appears to be a white man in his early 60s. Authorities say the evidence doesn`t point to a robbery, even though the man didn`t have any identification on him.
"Unfortunately it`s very rural and easily somebody could drive in and out of here without being scene," said Sergeant Dempsey.
Loraine Moore owns a boat store just miles from the oil field road where the body was found and says this kind of discovery is unusual for the close knit community.
"I don`t believe it`s anybody from around here, I think it was somebody looking to dump a body. If that is what they were doing," commented Loraine Moore.
Investigators have no reports of a missing person who fits the description of the male. They hope information from the autopsy will reveal some more clues since they have no solid leads.
"None what so ever, so hopefully after we get all the evidence back we`ll know more about who we need to be looking for."
At this point, investigators say their main focus is finding out the identity of the victim.
